Is Tuition tax deductible?

Tuition is not deductible for Kindergarten through 12th grade. Transitional Kindergarten is deductible, as well as afterschool and summer camp. All tax statements are sent via email on January 31st of each year, and you can request a printed copy by emailing bcca0002@gmail.com.

What is the Activity Fee?

Activity fees are paid once per year, at the beginning of the school year. The fees are calculated for
each grade level, based on the field trips and activities your child will participate in throughout the
school year. The amount includes fuel costs and bus driver pay. This process enables you to pay only
once and helps ensure that your child will be able to enjoy all the scheduled trips and events that we
have planned.

Why do I need to Pay the Activity Fee?

Each teacher submits a budget for planned field trips and class activities. Instead of charging for each
event, we simplify the billing into an annual amount to make it easier for families to process. Activity
Fees are always available here.

Why am I billed Music Lessons in August?

Music is billed at $25 per private lesson and $15 for group lessons. At Back Creek, we promise to deliver 30 lessons over the course of the year. At those rates, the prices for lessons are as follows: Private are $750 ($25 x 30 = $750) and Group are $450 ($15 x 30 = $450). We do not charge the account for each lesson delivered, instead we charge the total amount on a prorated basis: September through June is 10 months, so private lessons are billed 10 times at $75 ($750 / 10 months = $75) and group lessons at $45 ($450 / 10 months = $45). This represents a prepayment through most of the year, but it provides the money in advance that pays the music teachers.

There are two questions to ask your music teacher:

  1. Are we on pace to receive all 30 lessons?
  2. What way will you treat an overpayment if the all 30 lessons are not delivered, or what will happen when we reach the 30th lesson and there is still time left in the school calendar?
